Personal Care Technical Manager holding the award received by Unilever

Unilever Australia and New Zealand has been named as one of the Australian Packaging Covenant Organisation (APCO) annual award winners, having been awarded the highest performing "Large Pharmacy & Personal Care" company for the 3rd year running at its award ceremony in August.

"This is a great achievement and testament to the continuing journey we are making towards a sustainable future here in Australia and New Zealand and a great springboard for the new challenging targets around packaging waste and recycling we have been set as part of the Unilever Sustainable Living Plan towards a circular economy" said David Jones, ANZ Personal Care Technical Manager.

The APCO is Australia's sustainable packaging initiative which aims to change the culture of business to design more sustainable packaging, increase recycling rates and reduce packaging litter. Each year, the initiative recognises the highest performing signatories' efforts in packaging sustainability and innovation.

There were many initiatives that contributed to the winning of the award, these included a re-design of Sunsilk Packaging saving over 60 tonnes of plastic packaging per year andour partnership with REDcycle diverted more than 2 million Steets and Continental wrappers from landfill.
