My business requires a MSDS what should I do?

As a business you may require a MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) or a MSHS (Material Safety Handling sheet). To secure either a MSDS or MSHS you can do one of two things. Ring us on 1800 888 449 in Australia or 0800 900 028 in New Zealand and discuss your MSDS needs with a consultant or complete the 'Contact Us' form on this web site.

In either case please ensure you specify the exact product e.g. Jif Cream Lemon not just Jif. I am interested in finding out more about the history of Unilever. How did the company begin?

Unilever has a wonderful history spanning many years. Unilever was formed when the Dutch margarine company, Margarine Unie, merged with British soap maker Lever Brothers.

Both companies were competing for the same raw materials, both were involved in the large-scale marketing of household products and both used similar distribution channels. Between them they had operations in over 40 countries. Margarine Unie grew through mergers with other margarine companies in the 1920s. Lever Brothers was founded in 1885 by William Hesketh Lever. Lever established soap factories around the world. In 1917, he began to diversify into foods, acquiring fish, ice cream and canned foods businesses.

How much effort does Unilever put into environmental initiatives?

The Unilever Sustainable Living Plan is our blueprint for achieving our vision to grow our business, whilst decoupling our environmental footprint from our growth and increasing our positive social impact. The Plan sets stretching targets, including how we source raw materials and how consumers use our brands.

The scale of our ambition means that we are finding new ways to partner with others in business, government and society. Faced with the challenge of climate change and the need for human development, we want to move towards a world where everyone can live well and within the natural limits of the planet. That’s why our purpose is ‘to make sustainable living commonplace’.  Please visit the Sustainable Living Section for all the details.
