My business requires a MSDS what should I do?
As a business you may require a MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) or a MSHS (Material Safety Handling sheet). To secure either a MSDS or MSHS you can do one of two things. Ring us on 1800 888 449 in Australia or 0800 900 028 in New Zealand and follow the prompts or complete the Contact Us form on this web site. In either case please ensure you specify the exact product e.g. Jif Cream Lemon not just Jif. I am interested in finding out more about the history of Unilever. How did the company begin?
Unilever has a rich and colourful history spanning more than 70 years. Unilever was formed in 1930 when the Dutch margarine company, Margarine Unie, merged with British soapmaker Lever Brothers. Both companies were competing for the same raw materials, both were involved in the large-scale marketing of household products and both used similar distribution channels. Between them they had operations in over 40 countries. Margarine Unie grew through mergers with other margarine companies in the 1920s. Lever Brothers was founded in 1885 by William Hesketh Lever. Lever established soap factories around the world. In 1917, he began to diversify into foods, acquiring fish, ice cream and canned foods businesses.
You can find out more in 'Our history' section.
Can you please send me regular updates?
Please visit the 'News & media' section. Alternatively, visit www.unilever.com for Unilever PLC news.
How do I get in touch with local brand companies to discuss sponsorship opportunities?
To make the Unilever Australasia Foundation's contributions as effective as possible, we have consolidated most of our energy and investments behind our business-wide literacy program, Reading for Life, and our environment program, Bluewater. The focused approach of the foundation allows us to provide maximum value to our not-for-profit partners, but means we are unable to support any requests we receive for sponsorship.
Can you tell me how to apply for a job at Unilever?
Information about career opportunities offered by Unilever can be found in the 'Careers' section of this website.
Environment
Do you have any literature on the subject of health & nutrition?

Can I have a hard copy of the environmental policy?
Hard copies can be requested via the 'Contact Us' section of this site.
How can I apply for funding for a small environment project?
To make the Unilever Australasia Foundation's contributions as effective as possible, we have consolidated most of our energy and investments behind our business-wide literacy program, Reading for Life, and our environment program, Bluewater. The focused approach of the foundation allows us to provide maximum value to our not-for-profit partners, but means we are unable to support any requests we receive for funding.
Does Unilever test any of its products on animals?
The short answer is: we are committed to the elimination of animal testing for our business. This is our policy on animal testing and it is applied in all of our companies around the world. For over 20 years it has been our policy to reduce, refine and replace animal testing by substituting alternative methods. The vast majority of Unilever products have in the past reached the consumer without any testing of any material on animals and will continue to do so in the future.
More information on Unilever’s views on animal testing can be found within the Environment & society section of this site.
How much effort does Unilever put into environmental initiatives?
Unilever globally takes environmental issues very seriously and is focused on improving and maintaining the integrity of the environment, with a particular focus on water quality and management. In Australia and New Zealand, we work with local governments and organisations in reducing water use across our supply chain. Our SHE (Safety, Health & Environment) Centre ensures compliance and continuous improvement in all measures of environmental performance.
Internally, our employee volunteering program, Bluewater, enables employees to volunteer in local and national environmental projects with a specific water focus.

Would you be willing to make a product donation to our charitable organisation?
Requests for product donations can be emailed to uaf@unilever.com. However, please be aware that to make the Unilever Australasia Foundation's contributions as effective as possible, we have an established partnership with Foodbank Australia, a not-for-profit organisation that distributes food and grocery items to welfare agencies around the country. The focused approach of the foundation allows us to provide maximum value to our partner, but inevitably means we are unable to support the majority of other requests we receive for donations.
