Making a positive contribution to society
The long-term success of our business will be interconnected with the environment and the communities in which we operate. We are determined to make a positive contribution by meeting people’s basic nutrition and hygiene needs with the brands we make and sell. We believe that doing business in a particular way can have a positive social impact.
Our difference in the community
Our employees volunteer and dedicate their time to work hand-in-hand with their communities to make a difference. Unilever aims to make a genuine difference by encouraging employees to take the initiative in helping others in various community projects.
Community involvement is focused around three areas:
- Health – with a particular focus on nutrition
- Education – with a particular focus on youth
- Environment – with a particular focus on water
Our environmental stance
Unilever is associated with and affected by a range of social and environmental issues. We pay close attention to our overall imprint on the environment and globally have identified agriculture, fish and water as areas in which we can make the most difference. We focus on these areas through our sustainability initiatives. We are committed to contributing to sustainable development, partly because we view it as a commercial imperative. We believe that operating in a more sustainable way will be beneficial in the long term to Unilever and society.
Unilever is committed to consumer and customer safety, and to the safety of our workforce.
We also commit to addressing issues to minimise damage to the environment and aim to preserve it for future generations.
