Helpful tips
Interest in graduate roles with Unilever is high so it is crucial that your application form is an accurate and compelling statement of your interest and suitability for the scheme.
- We suggest you plan well in advance, spending time on identifying your strengths and personal milestones before filling in the form (we have provided a self-evaluation tool to help you do so).
We suggest you download a copy of the application form's questions and prepare your answers well in advance, giving time to reflect on what is being asked
If you are struggling to provide an answer, step back and ask yourself whether you are ready or have the experiences these roles appear to demand. In this sense our form is the first Unilever challenge to you. We will however provide feedback to everyone.
When completing the application form:
- Allow plenty of time to complete it. Fill it out carefully as it is your first opportunity to make a good impression.
- Answer all of the questions – incomplete forms will fall short of the scoring threshold to pass. However, you do not have to complete the form in one sitting – you can save & come back.
- The answers you give in the application form will serve as the basis for your interview with us, so keep a copy of your form and expect to talk in depth about the points you raise.
- Be selective, concise and relevant in your answers. Think about what the question is looking for and try to use examples from all aspects of your academic, working and social life to convince us that you are ready for the kinds of responsibilities, relationships and tasks that Unilever, a very large multi-national FMCG company, requires of its fast track managers.
- If possible, use a different example for each question.
- Print off a copy when you have finished completing it, for future reference. For example, you will need it for interview and when we provide feedback.
Also:
- Save your Application form regularly (every 20 minutes)
- Prepare all long answers in a word processor, then copy and paste them into your online application.
- Have you read through your answers for spelling and grammatical errors?
- Have you thought about the question asked and answered it fully, not the question you would like to answer?
- NOTE: A word / character limit is imposed on most answers (a word count limit is given).
Your form will be read by one of our graduate team and you should receive feedback from us no later than 2 weeks once applications have closed. If you make an early-bird application, we may ask you to complete subsequent stages of the selection process in advance of the final application closing date (April 10th).
