Unilever Australasia- Supply Chain Management

Supply chain management is at the very heart of Unilever's business, creating sustainable competitive advantage in supplying products and services to our customers and consumers everywhere.

You need a focus on results!

The supply chain process supplies the flow of product and services that generate Unilever's sales revenue. It covers all the processes from sourcing materials and services from our suppliers to delivery of finished products to meet customer/ consumer demand. A career in supply chain encompasses four key sub-processes - plan, source, make and deliver.

Supply Management Source

Sourcing is the front end of the supply chain. It is concerned with both raw and packing materials and finished goods sourcing and consists of supplier management and in-bound logistics. Supplier management includes supplier selection, negotiation and relationship management in order to ensure correct and cost effective supply of raw and packaging materials, finished goods and services to the business. Graduates in this area are involved in the buying of raw and packaging materials and a wide range of other services and goods from suppliers both internationally and locally. In-bound logistics is concerned with the call-off and receipt of materials from suppliers and the subsequent release of these into the Make process.

Supply Management Plan

By combining demand planning with supply planning, planning links all the sub-processes of the supply chain together. Demand Planning is the capture, interpretation and use of customer/consumer demand data to create and communicate relevant operational forecasts. Supply Planning is the consolidation of demand plans to produce feasible inventory, production and materials plans within the constraints of the supply chain. It includes activities like supply chain integration and vendor-managed Inventory. Distribution Management is the movement and care of finished product from manufacturing, usually through intermediate warehousing to customers and consumers. It includes transportation and warehousing and ensures that the customer receives the right quantity of product at the right time.
