Continental win a 50K home makeover promotion

For your chance to win, purchase three Continental products in one transaction from participating IGA stores during the promotion period and enter the promotion.

How to enter

1. To enter, simply purchase any three (3) Continental products in one transaction from participating IGA stores between 01/09/08 and 28/09/08.

2. Complete your details on the entry form found in store and tell us in 25 words or less “Why family mealtimes matter to you”.  Make sure you include the last 4 digits of the barcodes from each of your three (3) Continental products, and your IGA receipt number.  Post your entry to Continental - Win a $50,000 Home Makeover, Locked Bag 7000, Neutral Bay NSW 2089.

Log on to www.continental.com.au/iga and complete the online entry form, insert your answer, as well as the last 4 digits of each of the barcodes from your three (3) Continental products and IGA receipt number.

3. Entries will be judged on creativity and literary merit.

4. As part of these terms and conditions you are required to keep the original or a copy of receipt(s) for all entries made for each entry to be valid. If for example you enter 10 times, and one of those entries is drawn as a winner, you will be required to provide receipts for all 10 entries. Failure to provide these to the Promoter upon request may, at the Promoter's discretion, result in an invalid entry (and, at the Promoter's discretion, in all of the entrant's entries being invalid). Entries are deemed accepted at the time of receipt and not at the time of transmission.

5. Entrants may enter as many times as they wish, provided that each separate entry is based on the purchase of three (3) Continental products (in one transaction) and proof of purchase is retained. Each response to the question must be the entrant’s original work and contain a unique response.

Conditions of entry

1. Information on how to enter and prizes form part of these Conditions of Entry.

2. Entry into this promotion is deemed to be acceptance of these Conditions of Entry.

3. Entry is open to residents of Australia. Employees and their immediate families of the Promoter, participating IGA outlets and their agencies associated with this promotion are ineligible to enter.

4. Promotion commences at 09:00 EST on 01/09/08 and closes at 17:00 EST on 28/09/08 (“Promotional Period”).  Last mail entries received 29/09/08.

5. All entries will be judged on the 03/10/08 at 13.00 EST from all valid entries received at Unilever 20-22 Cambridge St, Epping NSW. This is a game of skill; chance plays no part in determining the winners. Each valid entry will be individually judged (by representatives of the Promoter) based on, among other things, literary and creative merit. Winners will be notified by mail and phone and their name and postcode will be published in The Australian on 09/10/08.

6. The judges decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

7. The four (4) entries judged to be the winners will each win $50,000 awarded in the form of a cheque. Total number of prizes in prize pool is 4.  

8. If winner of any Prize is under the age of 18 years at the closing date of the promotion, the Prize will be awarded to the winner’s parent or guardian at the absolute discretion of the Promoter.

9. Prize value is inclusive of GST and is in Australian dollars.

10. Total prize pool is valued at $200,000.00

11.   All entrants must retain (until requested for validation) the originals or a copy of all their IGA store receipt/s used to enter this promotion, for every entry submitted, as proof of purchase. The Promoter reserves the right to request the original receipts if not already received (from mail in entries) from the entrant to verify the validity of each entry made before awarding any prize. Where a winner is unable to provide the proof of purchase on request or the proof of purchase records show purchase of the Continental products outside of the Promotional Period, the winner’s entry will be deemed invalid and the prize will be awarded to the next creative entrant in accordance with these terms and conditions.

12.  The Promoter accepts no responsibility for entries received after the closing time and date.

13. The Promoter is not responsible for receipt of incomplete, illegible, damaged or incomprehensible entries. All such entries will be deemed invalid. No responsibility is accepted for late, lost or misdirected entries. Any entry that does not comply with these terms and conditions will be invalid.

14. Each entrant agrees all literary work/s and all rights, title and interest associated herewith are unconditionally and irrevocably assigned to the promoter. Each entrant warrants that all literary works submitted are original works of the entrant and does not infringe the rights of any third party.


15. The Promoter reserves the right to request winners to provide proof of identity, age and residency at the nominated prize collection address as per the details entered on the entry form. Any contact details entered incorrectly shall invalidate the entry at the discretion of the Promoter. Identification considered suitable for verification is at the discretion of the Promoter. The Promoter reserves the right to disqualify any entrant for tampering with the entry process or for submitting an entry, which is not in accordance with these Conditions of Entry and the prize will be redrawn in accordance with these Terms and Conditions. Unrecognised barcodes will not be accepted, nor will photocopy of receipts when originals have been requested.

16. The use of any automated entry software or any other mechanical or electronic means that allows an entrant to automatically enter repeatedly is prohibited and will render all entries submitted from that source and by those entrants invalid.

17. The Promoter reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify all entries from and prohibit further participation in this competition by any person who tampers with, or benefits from any tampering with, the entry process or the operation of the game, acts in violation of these conditions of entry, acts in a disruptive manner, or acts with the intent to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any other person.

18. The Promoter accepts no responsibility for any tax implications that may arise from a winner accepting a prize.  Independent financial advice should be sought.

19. Entries made using barcodes or store receipts that are stolen, forged or tampered with in any way are void.

20.  In the event that for any reason whatsoever the winner of a prize does not accept the prize, or any part thereof, at the time stipulated by the Promoter, then the prize, or any part thereof, will be forfeited by the winner.

21. In the event that the prize is not available despite the Promoter’s reasonable endeavours to provide the prize, the Promoter reserves the right to substitute prize(s) to the same and equal recommended retail value and/or specification, subject to any written directions from the various Lottery Departments.

22. The Promoter is not liable for any loss or damage whatsoever which is suffered (including but not limited to indirect or consequential loss) or for any personal injury suffered or sustained in connection with accepting any prize, except for any liability which cannot be excluded by law. 

23. It is a condition of accepting the prize that the winner (and companions) may be required to sign a legal release in a form to be determined by the Promoter in its absolute discretion.

24. The Promoter is not responsible for any incorrect or inaccurate information, either caused by the phone or website user or for any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilised in this promotion, or for any technical error, or any combination thereof that may occur in the course of the administration of this promotion including any omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line or telephone, mobile or satellite network failure, technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or website, software failure, theft or destruction or unauthorised access to or alteration of entries and any injury or damage to participants or any other person’s computer related to or resulting from participating in or downloading any materials in the promotion.

25. If for any reason this promotion is not capable of running as planned, including but not limited to technical failures, unauthorised intervention, fraud or any other cause beyond the control of the Promoter which corrupts or affects the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this promotion, the Promoter reserves the right in its sole discretion to disqualify any individual who tampers with the entry process, and, subject to any written directions given by any relevant Regulatory Authority, to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the promotion.

26. All entries become the property of the Promoter. The Promoter collects entrants’ personal information in order to conduct the promotion. If the information requested is not provided, the entrant may not participate in the promotion. By entering this promotion, unless otherwise advised, each entrant also agrees that the Promoter may use this information, in any media for future promotional, marketing and publicity purposes without any further reference, payment or other compensation to the entrant, including sending the entrant electronic messages. Entrants’ personal information may be disclosed to State and Territory lottery departments and winners’ names published as required under the relevant lottery legislation. 27. Entrants consent to the Promoter using the entrant’s name, likeness, image and/or voice in the event they are a winner (including photograph, film and/or recording of the same) in any media for an unlimited period of time without remuneration for the purpose of promoting this promotion (including any outcome), and promoting any products manufactured, distributed and/or supplied by the Promoter.
