Frequently asked questions about SURF laundry detergent:
Can I use Surf laundry detergent in a front loading washing machine?
Surf Tropical for Front Loaders is our specialist front loader product. It has powerful stain removers that mean you get a great clean at low temperatures.
Do I have to dissolve the powder first?
It is not necessary to pre-dissolve Surf laundry powder. However if you do experience powder residues on your clothes there are a number of steps you can take to prevent it from occurring. Powder can get trapped between clothes and sometimes cannot dissolve properly. If this happens and you are left with a fine residue on your clothes put them through an extra rinse. To ensure this doesn't happen again try to avoid overloading your machine and dose the recommended amount of detergent. Alternatively, use Surf Small & Mighty Ultra Concentrate liquid laundry detergent.
Does SURF laundry detergent contain optical brighteners?
SURF laundry powder and liquid contain optical brighteners. These are ingredients which help to make fabrics look 'whiter and brighter'. The majority of laundry detergents contain optical brighteners. Note: Optical brighteners (OBA) are also called fluorescers or fluorescent whitening agents (FWAs).
How much Surf laundry detergent do I use?
To achieve optimum wash results the recommended dosage stated on the pack should be used. If using SURF laundry powder use the scoop (it should be in your carton) to measure the right quantity to add to the machine. Throw in your clothes (don't forget to sort) then start the machine and let it do its work. If using Surf Small & Mighty laundry Liquid use your bottle cap to measure the liquid before adding to the machine.
| Product | Normal Load | Large Load or Hard Water |
| Powder | 1 scoop | 1 1/2 scoops |
| Liquid | 1 cap | 1 1/2 caps |
Using too little detergent causes poor soil and stain removal, greying of whites and soil build-up in the machine. Using too much detergent is uneconomical and increases the risk of over-foaming and thus poor rinsing of clothes.
Is Surf laundry detergent biological?
The term 'biological' is a European term used to inform consumers when a product contains enzymes. Products with enzymes are referred to, as 'biological' while products without enzymes are termed 'non-biological'. Surf laundry products do not conatin enzymes hence are non-biological.
