Unilever Australasia - OMO FAQ

Frequently asked questions about Omo and Omo Front Loader laundry detergent:

How is Omo Small & Mighty different from other laundry liquids?

Choosing Omo or Omo Front Loader Small & Mighty is an easy way to reduce your impact on the environment without sacrificing great washing performance. Unlike most other environmentally friendly washing liquids, Omo Small & Mighty is ultra concentrated and gives excellent washing results.

·  There are low sodium levels and no phosphates in Omo or Omo Front Loader Small & Mighty.

·  Omo and Omo Front Loader Small & Mighty has been packaged in a smaller 475ml recyclable bottle which means less packaging, less energy required to transport the product, and less waste. (You'll get the same number of washes from a bottle of Omo Small & Mighty as you did from the traditional Omo liquid 1.4L bottle.)

Which Omo laundry detergent should I use in a front loading washing machine?

Front loading washing machines are different and need a laundry detergent like Omo Front Loader. The tumble cleaning action, low water usage and low energy consumption associated with front-loaders means that they require low sudsing detergent to work at their best. Other detergents can produce too many suds when used in front-loaders. The excess lather can cause flooding, impair cleaning and damage the machine. Merely reducing the dose of a high sudsing detergent may prevent oversudsing but it will also reduce the cleaning power resulting in an inferior wash. Omo Front Loader is designed specially for front-loading washing machines and is recommended by all leading front-loader manufacturers. The Omo Front Loader laundry detergent range suitable for both front loaders and high efficiency machines includes: Omo Front Loader, Omo Front Loader Sensitive, Omo Small & Mighty Colour and Omo Small & Mighty Quickwash.

Do I have to dissolve the powder first?

It is not necessary to pre-dissolve Omo or Omo Front Loader laundry powders.  However if you do experience powder residues on your clothes there are a number of steps you can take to prevent it. Powder can get trapped between clothes and sometimes cannot dissolve properly. If this happens and you are left with a fine residue on your clothes put them through an extra rinse. To ensure this doesn't happen again try to avoid overloading your machine and dose the recommended amount of detergent.

Does Omo laundry detergent contain optical brighteners?

Optical brighteners are ingredients which help to make fabrics look 'whiter and brighter'. The majority of laundry detergents contain optical brighteners. Note: Optical Brighteners (OBAs) are also called fluorescers or fluorescent whitening agents (FWAs). If you would like you use a laundry detergent product without optical brighteners use Omo Colour. It has been especially formulated to ensure your coloured clothes stay vibrant.

Does Omo Sensitive laundry detergent contain any dyes or perfumes?

Omo Sensitive and Omo Front Loader Sensitive laundry detergent are dermatologically tested and specially formulated without dyes and perfumes.

How much Omo or Omo Front Loader laundry detergent should I use?

To achieve optimum wash results the recommended dosage stated on the pack should be followed.

ProductNormal LoadLarge Load or Hard Water
Standard Powder3/4 cup1 1/4 cup
Concentrate Powder1 scoop1 1/2 scoops
Liquid1 cap1 1/2 caps

Using too little detergent causes poor soil and stain removal, greying of whites and soil build-up in the machine. Using too much detergent is uneconomical and increases the risk of over-foaming and thus poor rinsing of clothes.

Is Omo laundry detergent biological?

The term 'biological' is a European term used to inform consumers when a product contains enzymes. Products with enzymes are referred to as 'biological' while products without enzymes are termed 'non-biological'. If you are looking for a non-biological product use Omo or Omo Front Loader Sensitive laundry powder or Omo or Omo Front Loader Small & Mighty Senistive Liquid detergent. (Omo products apart from the Sensitive variants are biological.)

What is the difference between a concentrate and a standard laundry powder?

Omo concentrate laundry powder and Omo standard laundry powder are designed to give great wash results. The concentrate powder has a number of benefits over the standard powder, including packaging in a size and shape compatible with modern laundries, a reclosable lid to prevent powder spillage and a convenient scoop to improve dosage control. When used at the recommended dosage, Omo High Performance concentrate laundry powder results in 10% fewer chemicals entering our environment than when using the standard powder.
