How do I choose the right detergent?

Product forms
- Laundry detergents are available in powder or liquid form
- Concentrated detergent powders come in compact, easy-to-store pack sizes and include a scoop for ease in measuring the correct dosage
- Conventional or regular detergent powders are the traditional 'big box' powders that have been around for many years
- Fabric washing liquids are easy to measure, dissolve quickly and are particularly useful for hand washing.
Detergent powders usually contain enzymes, highly effective stain removal ingredients. Enzymes are chosen to act on specific stains, most commonly oily soils and protein. Omo Sensitive and Persil Sensitive do not contain enzymes, dyes or perfumes and are ideal for people with sensitivities.
Low-suds vs high-suds products
High-suds powders produce high foam levels. They are ideal for top-loader machines, but should not be used in front-loading automatic machines. Front-loading machines cannot tolerate a large amount of foam, so detergents for these have low sudsing formulations. It is important to use specially formulated products such as Omo Front Loader or Persil Low Suds laundry detergents in front-loaders to prevent damage to your machine.
