Unilever extends its thoughts and sincere sympathies to those affected by the devastating floods in Queensland. 

According to Sebastian Lazell, Chairman Unilever Australasia; “With a portfolio of brands that touch the lives of consumers everyday and as a core supplier to thousands of small to large customers in the area we’ve been able to play a very practical role in the recovery process. We have responded with a support plan that exceeds AU $750,000 in value to date and we continue to monitor the situation closely.”

Unilever has established an internal Flood Response Team to coordinate a number of actions to provide all possible support to its people, customers and community in Queensland in the recovery effort. These areas of support include:

  • The donation of approximately $250,000 worth of staple food, beverages and personal care products which are being distributed via Foodbank. Unilever will remain in close contact with Foodbank to understand ongoing needs;

  • The donation and distribution of refreshments including Lipton Iced Tea and Streets Ice Cream to SES workers and residents involved in clean-up efforts;

  • $50,000 cash donation to the Premier’s relied fund;

  • A commitment to match all employee donations to the Premier’s Flood Relief Appeal;

  • The donation of personal care products to Terry White for distribution to affected communities;

  • The donation of Omo to Woolworths emergency laundry services;

  • Further financial, product and manpower support options are being undertaken as required. For example, assisting small business customers with free replacement stock and equipment repairs and helping larger stores re-stock shelves with products.

Distribution of products to customers has been interrupted within the affected areas of Queensland, however Unilever is investigating a number of options to ensure deliveries re-commence as early as possible.
