Jeroen van der Veer
Jeroen van der Veer was appointed as an Advisory Director in 2002 and was subsequently appointed a Non-Executive Director of Unilever in 2004. In 2009 he was appointed Vice-Chairman and Senior Independent Director, Unilever N.V and PLC.

Born in 1947, Jeroen studied mechanical engineering at Delft University and economics at Rotterdam University. He also has an honorary doctorate from Port Harcourt University (Nigeria).
Jeroen held various positions during his 38 years of service with Royal Dutch/Shell, and managed foreign posts in a number of key markets around the world, including the Netherlands, the UK, Curaçao and the US.
He took over as chairman of the committee of managing directors of Royal Dutch Petroleum Company and Shell Transport and Trading in March 2004. Following the unification of these two companies into Royal Dutch Shell, Jeroen was appointed the chief executive of the new company, a position he held until 30 June 2009. He is currently a non-executive director of Royal Dutch Shell.
Jeroen was a supervisory board member of the Dutch Central Bank from 2000 until 2004. He is also a member of the supervisory board of Philips and vice-chairman of ING.
In May 2009, he became Vice-Chairman and Senior Independent Director of Unilever. He is also Chairman of Unilever's Nomination and Remuneration Committees.
He is married with three daughters and enjoys jogging, skating, golf and visiting museums.
