Race Strauss

Vice President Finance ANZ

Originally from Queensland, Race is CPA qualified and has degrees in Accountancy and Hotel Management. His first job was in the horse racing world with the Gold Coast Turf Club. He decided his true passion was in Finance and after moving to Sydney took on a Financial Accounting position with Unilever.

Race joined Unilever in 1991 and since then has worked in Hong Kong, China, Vietnam, Singapore, Thailand and the United Kingdom. During this time he has worked across a broad spectrum of Unilever business activities including: Finance, Marketing, IT, Mergers & Acquisitions and the Supply Chain. Race has considerable experience in Developing and Emerging Markets, including being the Finance Director for Unilever in Vietnam and being part of the team that established Unilever's Ice Cream business in Shanghai. He also led the disposal of Unilever's Palm Oil Plantations in Africa as well as completing various acquisition and divestments for Unilever across the world whilst he was based in Head Office, in London.

Now he is happy to be back in Australasia as Vice President Finance. Race is married with two children and enjoys running and golf. He competed in the Action Asia racing series and even completed the London marathon in 2008.
